Activity title: Communications Intern
Project: Aus4Skills
Reports to: PR and Communications Manager
Duration of Assignment: 1 April – 30 June 2023
Location: Hanoi, Vietnam with regional travel as required.
Working relationships include:
• Senior Digital Media Officer, Communications Coordinator.
• Relevant Aus4Skills program staff and communications consultants/tenders.

Program Overview
The goal of Aus4Skills is to support Vietnam to access and use high level professional and technical knowledge, skills and competencies, to contribute to the country’s sustainable economic and inclusive development. The program also aims to deepen Vietnamese and Australian people-to-people and institutional links and therefore strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
Aus4Skills seeks to achieve the following three whole-of-program outcomes:
- Inclusive alumni use new skills and knowledge to make positive contributions to targeted are of Vietnam’s development.
- Selected Vietnamese Government, private sector, civil organizations, and other partners demonstrate organizational through improved policies, practices, or performance standards in targeted areas.
- Australia and Vietnam have stronger sustainable links and partnerships in selected agencies.
The outcomes will facilitate sector, cross-sector or national level changes that contribute to Australia’s role as a valued strategic partner.
They will be underpinned by the principle that gender equality, disability and social inclusion are integrated into all Aus4Skills activities, which are organised into five main components as follows:
- Australia Awards Scholarships
- Alumni Engagement
- Capacity Building for Higher Education
- Promoting Industry Linkages in Vocational Education and Training (VET)
- Vietnam Australia Centre, a new initiative to foster leadership and policy development
The Vietnam Australia Centre as a new component under Aus4Skills will draw upon Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership to address national and international challenges. It will enable Vietnam and Australia to bring together influential men and women leaders to pursue policy solutions to shared regional issues, while deepening people to people and institutional links.
Results will be demonstrated by strengthened leadership, improved public sector management skills and evidence-informed policy to promote Vietnam’s national development and international engagement. Vietnam and Australia will also have more positive and sustainable institutional relationships based on shared interests and mutual benefits.
Activities will include leadership capability development, policy research, analysis and advice, partnership development and alumni engagement.
Aus4Skills is managed by Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Position Summary
The Communications Intern will support the Aus4Skills Communications team in sorting, editing, archiving, and maintaining a communication database including social media and media articles, photos and videos produced by Aus4Skills in the last three years.
Key Responsibilities
The Communications Intern will:
- Support components in conducting the inventory, preparation and dissemination of Aus4Skills’ promotional materials and ensure the inventory is timely updated, storage is clean and develop the production plan with components when required.
- Support in monitoring the media clipping and collect information for communication reports.
- Under the guidance of the Sr. Digital Media Officer and Communications Coordinator, assist in photo and video shooting and editing, develop creative contents for Aus4Skills social media if suitable to the intern’s capacity and knowledge.
- Undertake other administrative and finance communication duties and support as may be reasonably required.
- Ensure all products are reviewed and approved by the relevant Communications team member.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Final year student or new graduate in communications, marketing, media, or a related field.
Experience/Knowledge
- Demonstrated skills in photos and videos shooting and editing, graphic design and social media content development and management.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese language
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Interest in staying up to date with the latest digital trends, platforms etc.
