Component

There are five components under Aus4Skills:

Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS)

Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of Vietnamese leaders to pursue their master’s degrees in Australia. Through study and research, recipients develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia. Australia has supported over 6,500 Vietnamese people to study in Australia since 1974. Applications for scholarships are usually open around 1 February every year. Applications for Intake 2024 are open from 1 February to 1 May 2023. Results will be announced in August 2023.

Alumni Engagement

Aus4Skills is supporting the long-term development of Australian alumni through a range of professional development activities, offering access to world-class speakers and trainers and funding for alumni to apply their leadership, knowledge and skills to contribute to Vietnam’s development. There are over 80,000 Vietnamese alumni of Australian education since 1974. Aus4Skills engages with around 2000 alumni annually, including through six Alumni Professional Groups established in 2022.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Australia is helping Vietnam to increase the quality of vocational education training (VET) to meet skill demands in the logistics sector, which is a key industry for Vietnam’s socioeconomic development and recovery from COVID‑19. Australia is a world-leader in establishing linkages between vocational education training and industry. Through Aus4Skills, Australia is applying this experience to improve VET for Vietnam’s logistics sector.

Higher Education Capacity Building

Australia and Vietnam are working together to improve governance and quality assurance at Vietnam’s universities. In Phase 1, the program supported the transformation of three target universities in the disadvantaged northern mountainous region of Vietnam to better meet market demands for quality human resources. In Phase 2, Aus4Skills will support implementation of Vietnam’s University Autonomy Agenda and Vietnam’s Higher Education Qualification Framework, including quality assurance improvement.

Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC)

The VAC is a vibrant centre of excellence that draws together Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership in addressing national, regional and international challenges. It unites Australia and Vietnam on common regional issues and shared challenges, by promoting knowledge exchange and people-to-people and institutional linkages between Australia and Vietnam, and delivers mutual benefits.
