Futures and Uncertainty Training Course for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Managers

On the morning of June 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Embassy in Hanoi opened a “Futures and Uncertainty Training Course” for managers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Opening Ceremony was joined by H.E Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Department of Foreign Policy and Department of Personnel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Australian Deputy Head of Mission Ms. Rebecca Bryant, Aus4Skills’s representatives, and 30 trainees who are leaders of departments and divisions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highly appreciates the importance of training and capacity development for officials, especially those who are involved in researching, analyzing, forecasting situations and proposing respective policies. This is particularly important as Vietnam will undertake international responsibilities in a challenging international relation context with rapid and remarkable movements. 

He also highly evaluates the cooperation between the Australian Embassy with Vietnamese ministries, sectors in general and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular on developing high-quality human resources. Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his attitude to the Australian Embassy Australia for providing the first “Future and Uncertainty Training Course” for officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This support demonstrates the close and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Embassy, contributing to strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia in the future.

In her speech, Australian Deputy Ambassador Ms. Rebecca Bryant appreciated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘effective support and coordination in organizing the course and welcomes all participants. 

The Australian Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam expressed her confidence in the efforts and quality of instructors and participants, the course is expected to be successful, to meet training needs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ officials and to further tighten the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Embassy.

The course was held from June 17-21, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Office, No. 2 Le Quang Dao, and instructed by Mr. Russ Swinnerton, an Australia’s leading expert on analysis, forecast and policy making.

The course covers theoretical contents, personal and group practice. Accordingly, participants will have access to new skills synthesized by teachers from Australian and American training institutions, followed by practice and application on specific topics. A special feature of the course is that participants will be instructed to master the skills and methodologies so that gradually, they will be able to teach others in the following courses.
