Australia and Vietnam are working together to improve governance and quality in Vietnam’s higher education sector. This will also support stronger integration with the regional higher education sector.

From 2016 to 2021, Aus4Skills supported the improvement of the training quality for universities in the northern mountainous region in Vietnam to contribute qualified human resource for the socio – economic development for the region with a large community of ethnic minorities. The partner universities were Thai Nguyen University (TNU), Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), and Tay Bac University (TBU).

In Aus4Skills, activities under this component aim to ensure target universities are well prepared for the implementation of autonomy with improved governance, leadership and management, strong quality assurance approach, and an inclusive culture.

Activities (2021-2025) include:

  • Building the capacity of Ministry of Education and Training leadership and senior university officers and academics to implement the University Autonomy Agenda.
  • Supporting the implementation of Vietnam’s Higher Education Qualifications Framework, including improvement of quality assurance.
