The Opportunity | Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) Manager
The VAC is a vibrant centre of education, research and dialogue between Australia and Vietnam. It draws together Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership in addressing national, regional and international challenges. Through the VAC, Vietnam and Australia collaborate to strengthen Vietnamese public sector leadership and policy development. The VAC is being delivered though the Aus4Skills Program in Vietnam by managing contractor Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of the Australian Government
The VAC Manager is responsible for leading and managing the quality development, delivery and reporting of education, research and partnership activities, to support the achievement of the Centre’s development and public diplomacy outcomes.
- Location: Hanoi, Vietnam
- Position for Vietnamese citizens
- Full time until December 2025, with the possibility of extension
Key Responsibilities
- Provide informed strategic advice and input to the VAC activities and operations to address evolving Vietnamese and Australian government needs, opportunities and challenges and feedback from partners and other stakeholders.
- Foster and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with Foundational Partners, including the identification and development of collaborative opportunities to strengthen relationships.
- Develop and implement an annual plan for the VAC, in accordance with the VAC’s goal, objectives and strategies, Aus4Skills program strategies, and the relevant Australian and Vietnamese broader national and partner strategies.

We are looking for a driven individual with the ability to handle tasks at both strategic and implementation level, that has good problem-solving capacities as well as high-level stakeholder management. You are a driven and creative professional who is looking to join a team that is supportive and collaborative with the share goal to support Vietnam’s future leadership development.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree(s), in education, human resources, international development, project management or similar, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in the planning and management of teams or projects involving education and training or skills development.
- Experience with planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of activities.
- Experience working and/or liaising with the Vietnamese government and Party’s senior leaders and good knowledge of the system and protocols.
- Previous experience with Australian Government-funded projects and knowledge of relevant policies, standards, and protocols is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent analytical capabilities and writing and communication skills in English language, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and social media.
- Proven understanding of a wide-range of cross-cutting issues - such as gender equality, disability and social inclusion, child protection, preventing sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, and fraud control.
Personal Attributes
- Multitasking capacity at both strategic and implementation level.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to engage with personas at various level of seniority and cultures.
